In a time when some people say the world has gone to hell and good love and great friendship is taken for granted.
This letter is in honor of the Nieves family, to express heart felt gratitude to Mrs. Gloria Nieves owner of Hotel La Familia and her son Miguel Nieves, and her sister and business partner Mrs. Flor, for their consideration, helpfulness and understanding when I arrived broke at their door by taxi in 1973.
Those who know of Maiquetia know it’s located in La Guira Venezuela; and those who know of GT know it’s an acronym for Georgetown which is the capital of Guyana. Miguel, Gloria, & Flor operated a small family type hotel in La Guira. I was taken to that hotel by a taxi driver from a hotel in Caracas where I had stayed the night after being driven from the Maiquetia Int. Airport the day before when I arrived from GT. The years went by and I lost communication with the family, and was unable to regain contact. I returned to the country in 2005 with the specific intent to visit and regain communication, but due to the disastrous flood that over took that region some years prior the hotel did not exist any longer and so the communication I had hoped to regain was permanently lost. But the memory of their kindness still linger which prompted the composing of this song.
Miguel, Gloria, & Sister Flor.

Left GT in 73
Running from a bad economy
Man a jumped on a big jet plane
I had to get the hell out of there
Touched down in CCS, that’s Caracas for all the rest
Man was flying like a little bird
A little bird flying past it’s nest
